What hardware is certified for Microsoft Teams Rooms?

Last updated:

Microsoft Teams Rooms hardware is certified through a published Microsoft programme, and only certified devices are eligible for support, firmware compatibility guarantees and the official MTR experience. The certified ecosystem covers three categories: integrated video bars for huddle to medium rooms, modular component systems for large rooms and boardrooms, and peripherals like scheduling panels and console controllers.

Integrated bars are the most common deployment shape. They combine camera, microphones, speakers and (usually) compute in one device. Currently certified families include:

  • Logitech: Rally Bar Huddle, Rally Bar Mini, Rally Bar
  • Poly: Studio X30, Studio X50, Studio X70, Studio X52
  • Yealink: MeetingBar A20, A30, A40
  • Cisco: Room Bar, Room Bar Pro
  • Neat: Neat Bar, Neat Bar Pro, Neat Frame

Choice within this category is driven by room size, framing capability and price. The video conferencing buyers' guide covers the size-to-bar mapping in detail.

Modular component systems are used in rooms over roughly 8 metres long, where a single bar cannot capture audio across the table. These pair a separate compute unit (Logitech Tap IP + RoomMate, Lenovo ThinkSmart Core, HP Presence) with a dedicated PTZ camera and ceiling or table microphones from certified DSP partners (Shure, Sennheiser TeamConnect, Biamp, QSC). Certification applies to the whole stack, not just the compute.

Peripherals that carry separate certification include the Logitech Tap and Tap IP touch console, Yealink RoomPanel and MTouch, Poly TC8 and GC8, and a range of scheduling panels from Crestron, Evoko, Logitech and Yealink.

Why certification matters. Microsoft validates each certified device against the MTR app, drives the firmware compatibility matrix between OEM and Microsoft, and triages support. Uncertified hardware ("works with Teams" is not the same as "Teams Rooms certified") may join a meeting fine and break in subtle ways under load: AEC misalignment, calendar sync drift, telemetry gaps, no Teams Rooms Pro Management coverage. On a managed estate the certification gap is the difference between a working room and a room nobody can troubleshoot.

The current authoritative list is Microsoft's published Microsoft Teams Rooms certified devices page; OEMs add and retire models continuously and any printed list dates within months.

Quick reference: integrated bars (Logitech, Poly, Yealink, Cisco, Neat) for huddle-to-medium; modular compute + PTZ + DSP-certified mics for large rooms; certification gives firmware compatibility, supportability and Pro Management coverage.
